The highly anticipated summer of 2024 is finally upon us, this means sunny beer gardens, Aperol filled lunches, gigs and of course the Euros 2024.  The anticipation is building. Football fans around the globe are gearing up for what will be some thrilling football. Through our guide, we’ll explore some of the top venues to watch the matches around Cork, must-visit Fan Zones along with some exceptional spots to grab a bite to eat along the way.

Don’t forget Cork is also hosting an array of amazing gigs throughout the month. We’ll cover it all here in this blog today ensuring you don’t miss as much as a moment of excitement. 

TO START

So let’s talk about the best places to catch the match, it all kicks off on June 14th so you better be ready and have a plan made out for yourself. Ask yourself what exactly you’re looking for?.  Some of the comfortable bets are just around Oliver Plunkett Street. The Poor Relation will be showing all the games live. It’s the perfect spot to grab a beer, get some sun and have a good time with friends. The Poor Relation can be as intimate and/or as wild as you want it to be, the staff are friendly, wise and great to chat to. Situated on Parnell Place, a must visit. 

MOVING ON…

Travel a bit further down, you’ll find yourself in the music district of the city. Pembroke Street. If you’re ever looking for a full day session, evening session & night session, you really don’t have to look much further than Pembroke Street.  It hosts some of the best pubs we have to mind. Canty’s Bar has live music from 6PM Fridays-Sundays, lively atmosphere, a cozy interior fit for any punter and most importantly plenty of TV screens.

They will even be adding one front-facing the street for any sun lovers a bit closer to the date. It really goes without saying, you will never miss the match at Canty’s Bar. 3 for €15 pints of Rising Sons Beer offer available on match days.

Right next door, you’ll find the infamous Crane Lane Theatre, open late 7 Nights  A Week. The Mutton Lane Inn will be showcasing all the matches down the intimate lane for anyone looking for that quiet-ish pint. SOME FOOD?

The Vicarstown on North Main Street will be an ideal place for a hungry fan, looking for sun, cold pints & maybe a bite to eat, well definitely a bite to eat. €5 Totopos and €5 pints of Sunbeam on match days. The kitchen, located in The Black Dog, a tequila haven for all. Head across the river and catch some traditional music in the Sin É, watch the match & dance till your heart’s content. Live traditional music 7 nights a week starting from 6.30PM and the second session starting at 9.30PM. Sin É is Cork’s best loved pub, not to be missed if you’re looking for a true Irish experience.

FANZONES & BITES

The Fan-Zones of Cork Heritage Pubs. The Old Town Whiskey Bar at Bodega & Rising Sons Brewery. These are the ultimate fan-zones. All nationalities welcome, there are screens indoors & outdoors, basically everywhere you sit. Every match in the competition will be shown. Deals?.

You really can’t go wrong with El-Fenix on Union Quay, the perfect mid-point for all you concert goers, whether it’s the sun or the beer you’re in for. El Fenix really has it all with a charm like no other. You can catch folk music on Tuesdays at 9PM and traditional music Thursdays at 9PM.

The Poor Relation will have gigs on after the gig. it’s one of the last bars you’re going to see before heading towards Pairc Uí Chaoimh so make sure to get that last cold pint here.

WHERE’S NEXT?

The infamous question always asked after a few pints is “Where Next?”. It all depends on what you’re looking for. Live DJS & bands, Cantys & Crane Lane Theatre. Boogey the night away in class?. The Pavilion & Intermission Lounge. That spanish, upbeat, late night disco feel. The Old Town Whiskey Bar at Bodega. These are all late night bars open until 2.30AM on the weekends.

NEWEST ADDITION

Old Brennan’s Wine House is now open at No 7 Oliver Plunkett Street, with more than 100 wines to choose from and a tasty menu of nibbles to complement each glass. Upstairs is an art gallery you can peruse over a glass of vino and the first exhibition. Art from the Inside, is now open, showcasing art by inmates at Cork prison. All proceeds from an auction of these pieces will go to the Children’s Leukemia Association.

Drinks and food are served on both floors, with a fine cheese board.
